Giveaways: Why You Should Enter

Okay, so I'm about as skeptical as they get. Really. I don't believe anything if you can't prove it to me. I'm a salesman's worst nightmare - ask all the car guys we've dealt with lately. I think pretty much everyone selling or giving away something has an angle and I'm too busy to deal with it.

But, blog giveaways have broken through my skepticism. Let me tell you why:

1. Giving away items on a blog does profit the blog (in traffic and followers) and the retailer giving away the item (in marketing and publicity).

2. However, the number of people entering a giveaway on a blog is frequently anywhere from 30 - 300. Your odds are much better than any giveaway by a major nationwide entity like Publisher's Clearing House.

3. I've won . . . multiple times! I've won videos, books, t-shirts, nursing supplies, and even - most recently - a floor cleaning system. If you know me and how busy I am, I can assure you it isn't because I sit at the computer and enter giveaways all of the time.

So, I would encourage you to make it a point to enter the giveaways I blog about and those that are linked to the Giveaway page. (You can always find this link at the top of the home page, and if there is a current MelissaStuff giveaway there will be a button on the top left of the home page.)

I have to admit that this review was one of the most FUN items we’ve done so far. My husband was actually more excited about trying it out than I was. Sodastream has an entire line of machines that allow you to make your own soda -  pop, cokes, whatever you make call it - at home. The process is super simple. We reviewed the Jet. It came in a large box. We took all of the pieces out and were able to start making drinks without washing or assembling anything. (We did rinse out the bottle just because I’m a nut like that.) There are two clear bottles to mix the drinks in, an O2 cylinder and the actual machine. You pop the O2 cylinder into the back of the machine. Then fill up one of the bottles with water to the fill line marked on the bottle. You push back on the button at the top of the front of the Sodastream machine which rocks out the Piece that the bottle screws on to. Not too long ago, I told you about my experience with Tropical Traditions organic coconut oil . Tropical Traditions was gracious enough to giveaway a bottle of that oil to one of the MelissaStuff readers. Recently, they offered to send me their palm shortening to try out. I love to bake so I was all about that offer. I was surprised when the “sample” arrived and it was a 1 gallon pail of shortening. I’m pretty sure that’s enough to make cookies for the next decade or so! Fair warning – when you go to use this for the first time, know that it will be difficult to get the lid off and if you aren’t particularly handy, you might want to have someone else around to help you. I didn’t and it took me about ten minutes, several different tools, and even breaking the tip off of an industrial file before I could get it.
