Tour Grapevine!
Growing up in the Dallas area, there are many landmark locations that I have visited many times. However, inevitably, there are places I haven't visited or still don't know much about.
Grapevine is a city I've visited on many occasions. The airport is there. The Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall is a place we frequent. We even occasionally go to downtown Grapevine and eat or shop. But, never have I heard the history of Grapevine. Or been told why it was named Grapevine. Or taken any kind of tour of Grapevine. So when I was offer to take a tour of the city with Grapevine Wine Tours, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do all of that.
My absolute favorite part of the tour was the leader - both our tour guide and the accompanying staff member from Grapevine Wine Tours were amazing. They were friendly, knowledgeable and we felt as if they were a welcomed member of our event rather than the annoying invasive presence that some tour guides can be.
We began our tour at the Embassy Suites Grapevine. Grapevine Wine Tours picks up from several local hotels in addition to the Embassy Suites, including Great Wolf Lodge and the Hilton. From there they take you around town on one of the Grapevine Wine Tour buses. They will give you an overview of the city including some great facts like this:
The four hour tour runs at either lunch or dinner time and takes you to two different renowned wineries in the area as well as serving you a nice 3-course meal. For our event, we visited the Homestead Winer, Delaney Vineyards and ate our meal at Winewood restaurant.
Homestead Winery doesn't look anything like a winery. It's an old historic home that has been converted into a tasting room with an additional area holding a gift shop. Many of the wines here are award-winning and this is a location that is key to anyone trying to get a feel for the area.
Delaney Vineyards has an actual vineyard on site. But the best part of Delaney Vineyards is the amazing event room that you can rent out for your special event. Seriously, it's gorgeous!!
Lastly, we attended our 3-course dinner at Winewood. If you don't know - which I didn't - Winewood is owned by the same family that owns Bob's Chop and Steak House. It's much more reasonable but the meal stills make the cost ($79.50 for lunch; $89.50 for dinner) a great value when you consider all of the perks included.
Whether you drink alcohol or not, I think the Grapevine Wine Tour is something you will find value in and thoroughly enjoy. They take trips with a minimum of four attendees - and their event is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, proposals, girls night out and much more.
