May the 4th Be With You!

Is your house like mine? Do you have little Jedis in training wielding light sabers? Do you step on tiny Yoda legos or have Darth Vader masks peeking out from closets and toy chests??

If so, you need to mark your calendars for May 4 and 5 - Star Wars Days at LegoLand Discovery Center in the Grapevine Mills Mall.

The activities will include Star Wars themed builds, costume and trivia contests, LEGO® YODA mural display and appearances from 501st Legion costume characters.

"May The 4th Be With You" Activities:

·      LEGO® YODA mural display
·      Mingle and take photos with your favorite 501st Legion characters. (Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
·      Showcase your building talents by creating a spaceship during special Star Wars- themed builds. (Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
·      Dress up in your best Star Wars gear and have your picture snapped to participate in our Facebook contest for a chance to win cool prizes! (Ages 2 years an under, 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 12.  Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) Plus, costumed guests will enjoy 20% off in the Café!
·      Watch as our LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Master Model Builder demonstrates how to put together a special LEGO® Star Wars model. (Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
·      Test your Star Wars knowledge in a trivia contest for a chance to win fun prizes! (Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.)


Admission is $19 for adults (ages 13+), $15 for children 3 to 12 and free for kids 2 and under.

Hours:  Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. - last admission at 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. - last admission at 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. - last admission at 4 p.m.

Not too long ago, I told you about my experience with Tropical Traditions organic coconut oil . Tropical Traditions was gracious enough to giveaway a bottle of that oil to one of the MelissaStuff readers. Recently, they offered to send me their palm shortening to try out. I love to bake so I was all about that offer. I was surprised when the “sample” arrived and it was a 1 gallon pail of shortening. I’m pretty sure that’s enough to make cookies for the next decade or so! {EXPIRED} Giveaway: Make Your Own Soda (Cokes!)

I have to admit that this review was one of the most FUN items we’ve done so far. My husband was actually more excited about trying it out than I was. Sodastream has an entire line of machines that allow you to make your own soda -  pop, cokes, whatever you make call it - at home. The process is super simple. We reviewed the Jet. It came in a large box. We took all of the pieces out and were able to start making drinks without washing or assembling anything. (We did rinse out the bottle just because I’m a nut like that.) There are two clear bottles to mix the drinks in, an O2 cylinder and the actual machine. You pop the O2 cylinder into the back of the machine. Then fill up one of the bottles with water to the fill line marked on the bottle. You push back on the button at the top of the front of the Sodastream machine which rocks out the Piece that the bottle screws on to. Organic Detergent? {Giveaway}

So technically, I don’t think this detergent is actually organic, but it is non-toxic and environmentally safe. Can you say that for your detergent? This product was a surprise to me. I’m not picky about my detergent, but the only thing I do care about is how my detergent smells. Before I used Tropical Traditions Powdered Laundry Detergent I was concerned that it would have a chemical smell or worse the clothes would end up not smelling clean. But it smells GREAT without having any specific scent to it . . . it just smells clean . One thing that’s nice is it only takes 2 oz. to wash an entire load, so this fairly small container will do quite a number of loads – 40 to be exact.
