Breathtaking . . .
For anyone trying to read these as a series, I apologize for the gaps. We are selling a house, buying another, and starting school this week. But you can go back and read the previous installments while you wait for me to finish this crazy process.
Breakfast was included in our hotel package, so we got up
the next morning and tried to convince
the kids that steamed tomatoes, nshima (a doughy substance used to pick up
meat) and dried meat and cheese were breakfast foods. In the end, they settled
for chunky bacon, cereal and toast.
And then we hiked over to the falls. There is no way to
explain Victoria Falls. It’s massive. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing to stand
there and see the expanse and majesty. You can’t help but be floored at the
fact that God took the time to not just make this world functional, but also
gorgeous.
We were even able to walk around to the top of the falls and
wade in the water before it comes down towards the actual edge of the falls
themselves. The water was COLD but everyone loved it and it was a nice way to
spend the morning.
We found a nice little restaurant – The Squires – not far
from our hotel and the food was surprisingly good and the cost was decent, especially compared to the dinner the night before. The best part of this restaurant was they apparently made their own
bread, and I could have honestly eaten nothing but that bread with butter every
night for dinner and been full and happy.
Everyone went to bed earlier this night because we were
headed out to our safari first thing the next morning . .
| One last picture of the falls - this is my husband's favorite. |
