How to Have the Best Christmas Card This Year

Christmas cards are an interesting part of the holiday season . . . they’ve definitely evolved since the days of snowy scenes and cheesy cartoons wishing us a “Mewwwy Cwismas!”

Now, we have options like this one from Shutterfly:

(Also available are other greeting cards, calendars, and photo gifts.)

But it is possible to spend WAY too much on Christmas cards and/or end up with pretty cards that aren’t so attractive once you insert some flat snapshots that aren’t quite in focus.

Here are a few tips to prevent that from happening:

1. Start preparing early. The longer you wait, the more you will have to pay because you are backed into a corner and then there will be extra shipping fees to rush the order, too.

2`. Watch for deals! There have been lots of Christmas card deals already and there will be more to come. The card shown above from Shutterfly is on sale right now for $1.72 each if you purchase more than 5 cards and FREE shipping on orders more than $30 with the code SHIP30.

3. Use professional photos . . . seriously, I would rather see a picture with your entire family in sundresses on your Christmas card than a picture you took with a self-time in your living room with a bunch of junk in the background! With online deals being so popular, you should easily be able to get a photo session inexpensively and get double the use out of it as family pictures and your Christmas card photo.

I received a set of FREE Christmas cards from Shutterfly in return for writing the post.
