Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch

Do your kids love Sesame Street? Mine do. They can spot Elmo or Cookie Monster a mile away.

So when I opened a package that came in the mail last week and pulled out an Elmo hat, a Cookie Monster hat, and an Oscar the Grouch hat, they were so excited! It’s been 100 degrees outside every day this week. Not wanting to risk my children’s health or the welfare of said hats – because I’m pretty sure once the boys get them on, they won’t want to take them off – I have not allowed the hats to be worn yet. Therefore, no adorable pictures of my heathens in the hats. But they will come! In fact, we’ve scheduled a Christmas trip to Colorado and I plan for these to be on the boys heads at all times when they are outdoors.

Not too long ago, I told you about my experience with Tropical Traditions organic coconut oil . Tropical Traditions was gracious enough to giveaway a bottle of that oil to one of the MelissaStuff readers. Recently, they offered to send me their palm shortening to try out. I love to bake so I was all about that offer. I was surprised when the “sample” arrived and it was a 1 gallon pail of shortening. I’m pretty sure that’s enough to make cookies for the next decade or so! Fair warning – when you go to use this for the first time, know that it will be difficult to get the lid off and if you aren’t particularly handy, you might want to have someone else around to help you. I didn’t and it took me about ten minutes, several different tools, and even breaking the tip off of an industrial file before I could get it. Organic Detergent? {Giveaway}

So technically, I don’t think this detergent is actually organic, but it is non-toxic and environmentally safe. Can you say that for your detergent? This product was a surprise to me. I’m not picky about my detergent, but the only thing I do care about is how my detergent smells. Before I used Tropical Traditions Powdered Laundry Detergent I was concerned that it would have a chemical smell or worse the clothes would end up not smelling clean. But it smells GREAT without having any specific scent to it . . . it just smells clean .
